EEOC Updates Religious Discrimination Guidance

Law360, New York (July 23, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has revised the religious discrimination portion of its compliance manual in light of an increase in the number of religious discrimination complaints.

On Tuesday, the commission issued a new section in its compliance manual that provides guidance for investigating charges of discrimination based on religion and suggests best practices that employers and employees can follow.

The new section is the most comprehensive document the EEOC has issued on the subject of religious discrimination, according to office spokesman David Grinberg....
