RIM Pushes For Venue Change In Blackberry Suit

Law360, New York (May 3, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Blackberry maker Research In Motion Ltd. isn’t wasting any time swinging back at mobile e-mail technology firm Visto Corp., filing a noninfringement countersuit and seeking to shift litigation away from plaintiff-friendly Marshall, Texas.

RIM’s lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, in Dallas, came on the heels of Visto’s patent complaint filed last week in the state’s eastern district. Visto has openly shunned a settlement in favor of removing Blackberry devices from the U.S. market altogether.
