Securities Lawsuits On The Rise: Report

Law360, New York (July 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The subprime mortgage crisis and and accompanying credit crunch have been a boon to at least one sector – securities attorneys, according to a new report.

The report, “Securities Class Action Filings: 2008 Mid-Year Assessment” by Cornerstone Research and Stanford Law School's Securities Class Action Clearinghouse, found that class action securities suits jumped in the second half of 2007 and through the first half of 2008.

The size of losses leading to lawsuits also leaped, the report said.
