Coast Guard's Offshore LNG Regs Will Expedite Approvals

Law360, New York (May 6, 2015, 11:54 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Coast Guard recently issued a proposed rule that would extensively revise the federal regulations governing the licensing, design and operation of offshore oil and liquefied natural gas terminals, known as deepwater ports, located in federal waters. The notice of proposed rule-making seeks to expedite the licensing process by clarifying regulatory roles and requirements.[1] The rule-making would also update the regulations to account for recent trends in the natural gas industry, such as LNG exports, and to account for newer technologies including floating LNG, which has been the preferred technology in offshore regasification terminals....
