Race, Sex Bias Suit Against JP Morgan Dismissed

Law360, New York (August 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A black woman fired by JP Morgan Chase & Co. failed to prove that she lost her job because the bank she worked for gave preferential treatment to white males, a U.S. judge ruled last week.

In the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York, Judge George B. Daniels granted JPMorgan's request for summary judgment Wednesday, on the grounds that the company showed a “legitimate non-discriminatory” reason when it fired the plaintiff for failing to properly record cash deposits.
