Calif. Could Be First To Shield Kids From Bisphenol A

Law360, New York (August 12, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The California Legislature could reportedly become the first to pass statewide restrictions on the use of the chemical bisphenol A in baby bottles and formula cans.

Proposed legislation to ban the product passed in the state Senate and is awaiting approval by the Assembly. Bisphenol A poses significant health concerns for children, according to the legislation.

On Thursday, the bill was amended to specify that its restrictions would not apply to containers that hold liquids, food and beverages intended for consumption by the general population....
