Medtronic Sues NuVasive Over Spinal Surgery Patents

Law360, New York (August 20, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A unit of medical device maker Medtronic Inc. has filed a lawsuit claiming rival NuVasive Inc. is infringing a dozen of its patents for implants and devices used in spinal surgeries.

In a complaint filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of California, Medtronic Sofamor Danek USA Inc., Medtronic's spine unit, targets a slew of NuVasive products for minimally invasive spinal surgeries.
