Judge Tells ITC To Block SiRF GPS Chip Imports

Law360, New York (August 26, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A judge has recommended that the U.S. International Trade Commission prevent SiRF Technology Holdings Inc.'s disputed chips or any products containing them from being imported into the country two weeks after finding the technology company had infringed six GPS satellite patents owned by a unit of Broadcom Corp.

The recommendation, handed down Friday by Administrative Law Judge Carl Charneski, would stop a range of electronic devices containing the SiRF global positioning system chips – including personal digital assistants, cell phones, personal navigation devices and GPS units...
