Immersion To Pay Microsoft $20M To Settle Tech Suit

Law360, New York (August 27, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Immersion Corp. has agreed to pay Microsoft Corp. $20.75 million to settle litigation stemming from a patent battle Immersion won against Sony Corp. over video game controllers with “rumble” technology.

The one-time payment resolves Microsoft's claim under a 2003 sublicense agreement between Microsoft and Immersion, the touch-feedback technology developer said Tuesday. The deal will also resolve Immersion's counterclaim that Microsoft breached a confidentiality agreement between the companies.
