KLA-Tencor Newest Tech Company Probed By SEC

Law360, New York (May 30, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Expanding quicker than the size of your newest memory stick, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s probe into stock-option grants in the tech industry has picked up the scent of another company. Microchip equipment maker KLA-Tencor Corp. said on Tuesday that the SEC is launching an informal inquiry into the stock options given to its employees.

The company revealed last week that it had received subpoenas from federal prosecutors requesting information about past stock-option grants. A special committee has been appointed to conduct an internal investigation....
