MasterCard Wants Discover Debit Ruling Cleared Up

Law360, New York (September 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- MasterCard Inc. on Thursday asked the judge presiding over Discover Financial Services Inc.'s $6 billion antitrust case against it and Visa Inc. to clarify an Aug. 20 ruling relating to debit cards.

Judge Barbara S. Jones of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York ruled that all of Discover's claims that MasterCard's Competitive Programs Policy did not harm the insurgent credit card company's attempt to enter into the debit card market.
