Defunct Co. Shells Out $2M For Superfund Cleanup

Law360, New York (September 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A subsidiary of defunct appliances manufacturer Sunbeam Corp. has agreed to pay more than $2 million to settle a Superfund suit involving a dairy farm near Allentown, Pa., that was allegedly contaminated with industrial waste.

According to a complaint and accompanying consent decree filed Friday with the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, Temrac Co. Inc. will pay $1.92 million to the federal government and another $213,000 to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
