After $1.6M Verdict, Merit, JVL Settle Patent Dispute

Law360, New York (September 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Rival video game makers Merit Industries Inc. and JVL Corp. have agreed to settle their protracted patent dispute roughly three months after Merit, which sought more than $20 million in damages, won a $1.6 million verdict on its infringement claims.

Judge Timothy J. Savage of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania dismissed the action Monday without granting costs, approving an undisclosed settlement the competitors brokered last week.
