170 Call Center Workers Opt In To Collective Action

Law360, New York (September 23, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- More than 170 call center employees at Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. have opted in to a collective action alleging that they were forced to work off-the-clock hours and were denied wages and overtime pay.

The employees — who hail from Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas — are suing Southwestern Bell in the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas. They are currently preparing a motion for collective action certification and engaging in discovery, according to lead plaintiffs counsel George A. Hanson.
