CO2 Emissions Growth Exceeds Predictions: Report

Law360, New York (September 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Global Carbon Project has found that carbon dioxide emissions between 2000 and 2007 far exceeded the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's projections, despite international efforts to lower CO2 emissions.

The Global Carbon Project, an international group of scientists studying climate change, released the latest figures Thursday for the world's carbon budget.

Those figures told a troubling story: CO2 gases, which scientists say cause global warming, are continuing to emit into the atmosphere at increasingly higher rates, creating an unprecedented accumulation.
