Representatives Slap FDA Over PR Contract Tactics

Law360, New York (October 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- U.S. Food and Drug Administration to turn over additional information regarding a contract between the agency and an outside public relations firm, saying the contract may have been awarded inappropriately as part of FDA's effort to improve its image.

Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., and Rep. Bart Stupak, D-Mich., wrote to the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Michael O. Leavitt Thursday, calling the FDA's Aug. 21 response to the oversight committee's first request in April "woefully inadequate."
