Silicon Valley Counsel: Oracle's Roger Kennedy

Law360, New York (June 28, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- For a large high-tech company, enterprise software maker Oracle Corp. has managed to stay remarkably clear of IP litigation. But in-house counsel Roger Kennedy nevertheless has a bone to pick with “patent trolls” that have targeted the high-tech industry.

When Kennedy started in Oracle’s IP department six years ago, the company had never been sued for patent infringement. Currently, the company has five lawsuits pending. Oracle is the plaintiff in two of the cases, although one suit is a complaint for declaratory judgment.
