Religious Discrimination: Mistakes Employers Make

Law360, New York (October 17, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- According to the EEOC, religious discrimination charge filings doubled from 1,388 charges in 1992, to 2,880 charges in 2007.

Given that increase in annual filings, the nation’s religious diversity, and requests for guidance from agency personnel, employees, and employers, the EEOC completed a comprehensive update of the “Religious Discrimination” section of its Compliance Manual in July of this year.

The updated section provides insight into how the EEOC intends to investigate and analyze charges that allege religious discrimination.
