DOJ Clears Joint Licensing Group For RFID Patents

Law360, New York (October 21, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice won't stand in the way of a proposal from a consortium of companies to jointly license patents for wireless tracking technology used in airline baggage tracking and event ticketing.

The department's Antitrust Division said Tuesday the joint licensing program for ultra high frequency radio frequency identification could save costs and improve access to the technology, which is used to track the flow of goods through a supply chain.
