Asia, EU Pledge Climate Change Initiatives

Law360, New York (October 27, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Delegates from the European Union, China and 23 Asian countries have signed a declaration vowing to confront climate change and give special attention to sustainable development as part of a global partnership aimed at tackling environmental issues.

At the Seventh Meeting in Beijing on Oct. 24 – 25, 2008, members of the Asia-Europe Meeting, or ASEM, an intergovernmental forum between Asia and Europe, signed "the Beijing Declaration on Sustainable Development" as a part of a cross-border initiative to promote global environmental sustainability.
