Eliminating Fossil Fuel Use By 2090 Possible: Study

Law360, New York (October 27, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The world could be able to generate all of its energy needs without fossil fuels by the end of the century, but it will take a massive undertaking to invest in renewable energy, a new report claims.

The 210-page study, released by the environmental group Greenpeace and the European Renewable Energy Council, argues that by spending trillions of dollars on renewable energy over the coming decades, the need for fossil fuels, and their attendant environmental damage, could be eliminated by 2090.
