Law360, New York (October 27, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Sen. Ted Stevens, the long-serving Alaska lawmaker, was found guilty on Monday of lying about receiving hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gifts and free home repairs from the oil industry contractor VECO Corp.
A day after beginning deliberations, jurors in the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. convicted Stevens on seven counts of making false statements on his Senate financial disclosure forms, to which the senator had not pled guilty earlier this month.
