IBM Top Patent Recipient for 11th Year in a Row

Law360, New York (January 12, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- IBM is expected to announce Monday that it was awarded more U.S. patents than any other company in 2003, marking the 11th consecutive year the company has been the top recipient.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted IBM 3,415 patents, the third consecutive time the computing giant was awarded more than 3,000 patents. IBM claims to be the only company in the world to have gained more than 3,000 patents in a year.
