Jury Awards Ariba $4.9M In Online Auction Patent Suit

Law360, New York (October 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Texas jury has awarded Ariba Inc. $4.9 million after finding that Emptoris Inc. infringed two of the company's patents for electronic auction technology.

The jury in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas returned its verdict on Wednesday, deciding that the infringement of both patents was willful and rejecting Emptoris' argument that the patents were invalid.
