FDA Draws Fire For Closed Hearing On Blood Substitute

Law360, New York (July 13, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A consumer group has launched an emergency lawsuit against the Food and Drug Administration in hopes of prying open the agency’s closed-door session on the safety of a blood substitute that the U.S. Navy is eyeing for use in civilian trauma patients.

Public Citizen’s Health Research Group lodged the suit Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, requesting the court either halt Friday’s closed-door hearing or open the hearing to the public.
