54,500 Mixers Recalled For Laceration Risk

Law360, New York (October 31, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- In the wake of reports that a personal-sized smoothie-making machine may unexpectedly turn on, triggering the sharp steel blades and potentially causing serious hand and finger lacerations, MEDPort LLC and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have issued a recall for 54,500 Fit & Fresh brand mixers.

The CPSC issued the recall for the Fit & Fresh Smooth Blend Mixer on Thursday in cooperation with MEDPort, which manufactures the small blending devices.
