Schering-Plough To Pay $31M In Mo. AWP Suit

Law360, New York (October 31, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Schering-Plough Corp. has agreed to pay $31 million to settle allegations by the state of Missouri that a former subsidiary overcharged the state's Medicaid program, one day after the pharmaceutical giant said it would appeal a jury verdict that found the company must pay $7.3 million in compensatory damages as well as undetermined punitive damages.

The settlement resolves claims that Warrick Pharmaceuticals, a former generic subsidiary of Schering, inflated the corporation's average wholesale prices in a scheme that cost Missouri taxpayers millions of dollars.
