DOJ Balks At Beef Cos.' Bid To Fast-Track Trial

Law360, New York (November 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Justice Department is protesting an attempt by beef-packing companies JBS SA and National Beef Package Co. LLC to speed up the trial date of the litigation over the duo's planned merger.

On Tuesday, the DOJ, flanked by 13 other states, fought back against the defendants' expedited trial motion, maintaining that this matter is too important to rush to a judgment.
