DOJ Likely To Take New Antitrust Stance Under Obama

Law360, New York (November 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Even on the campaign trail, where discussions of antitrust policy are unlikely to be a crowd-pleaser, President-elect Barack Obama publicly criticized the Bush administration for being too lax on reviewing corporate mergers.

“We're going to have an antitrust division in the Justice Department that actually believes in antitrust law. We haven't had that for the last seven, eight years,” Obama promised a Oregon audience in May, Reuters reported at the time.
