Political Pressure-Cooker Mentality At FDA: Report

Law360, New York (July 21, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A nonprofit group is accusing the U.S. Food and Drug Administration of fostering an environment in which its scientists exclude or alter unfavorable findings to stave off political retaliation, according to a report released Thursday.

The Union of Concerned Scientists, a Cambridge, Mass.-based coalition that studies the misuse of science and technology in society, said the findings were the result of an anonymous written survey sent to 5,918 FDA scientists.
