EEOC Settles Religious Bias Suits Over Pork Forms

Law360, New York (November 12, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A poultry processing company and an employment agency accused of forcing Muslim job seekers to sign statements agreeing to handle pork products have agreed to settle claims of religious discrimination with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The settlements resolve two lawsuits filed by the EEOC alleging that St. Cloud, Minn.-based Gold’n Plump Poultry Inc. and employment agency the Work Connection breached Title VII of the Civil Rights Act by forcing job applicants to sign the so-called pork form.
