EU Unveils Plan To Boost Energy Efficiency

Law360, New York (November 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- European regulators have proposed a wide-ranging energy package built on earlier measures meant to boost energy security and stimulate investment in more efficient, low-carbon energy networks.

The European Commission's Energy Security and Solidarity Action Plan, announced Thursday, sets out certain areas where more action is needed to secure sustainable energy supplies and looks at the challenges Europe will face between 2020 and 2050.

Energy prices have risen an average of 15 percent in the European Union in the past year, according to EU officials.
