Mining Co. Penalized For Repeat Safety Violations

Law360, New York (November 14, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration has sanctioned Virginia-based Patriot Mining LLC for repeated violations of health and safety regulations for workers in its coal mine.

The sanctions, which include stricter inspections at the facility, mark the first time the division of the U.S. Department of Labor has issued a pattern of violation notice to a mine operator under a 1978 law, the agency said Thursday.
