Shell To Clean Up 83 Gas Station Sites In Wash.

Law360, New York (November 19, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Shell Oil Co. has partnered with the Washington State Department of Ecology to clean up contamination at 83 current and former gas station sites in the state.

The agreement, the first of its kind between the state and a fuel company, will advance cleanup operations at gas stations located in King, Snohomish, Skagit and Whatcom counties that were found to have groundwater or soil contamination.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, which offered “strong support” for the initiative, will provide a $200,000 grant to fund implementation costs...
