Korea Pushes Drug-Pricing Law

Law360, New York (July 26, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- With South Korea and the United States still tussling over trade agreements for pharmaceuticals, South Korea intends to forge ahead with drug-pricing legislation that could have a substantial material impact on U.S. drug sales in Korea.

Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare said Tuesday that it would issue a preannouncement detailing the policy later this week.

The country plans to change its drug-insurance policy sixty days after the preannouncement to ensure that drugs approved by the ministry will be covered by the nation's health insurance system,...
