DOJ Launches Criminal Probe Into Plavix Deal

Law360, New York (July 27, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Federal prosecutors are taking aim at a deal involving the hotly-contested heart drug Plavix, launching a criminal investigation of a proposed settlement between Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., Sanofi-Aventis and Apotex Inc.

Although the U.S. Department of Justice's Antitrust Division would not confirm or deny that the investigation had been undertaken, Bristol-Myers disclosed the probe in its second-quarter earnings report on Thursday.
