EU Report To Target Drug Patents, Lawsuits

Law360, New York (November 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A report from the European Commission on competition in the pharmaceutical industry will reportedly take drugmakers to task for artificially extending the lives of patents and suppressing competition through litigation.

The report, which Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes is expected to release Friday, could be a prelude to further action by the commission, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing an anonymous source.
