EU Raids Drug Cos. In Latest Antitrust Sting

Law360, New York (November 25, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Citing concerns about anti-competitive behavior, the European Commission raided the offices of several pharmaceutical companies Monday, just days before the regulator's scheduled release of a report on its competition inquiry into the industry.

The commission conducted the inspections along with competition authorities from the relevant countries on suspicions that the companies had violated EU law barring companies from engaging in restrictive business practices and abusing dominant positions in their markets, according to the EC's announcement Tuesday.
