Australian Cartel Whistleblowers May Dodge Jail

Law360, New York (December 01, 2008, 12:00 AM ET) -- Australian corporate executives who report cartel activity will be eligible for immunity from civil and criminal prosecution, the country's top prosecutor announced Monday, marking a major policy departure by the government.

The extension of the whistleblower immunity program to criminal conduct follows the release in late October of draft anti-cartel legislation by the Australian government that makes price collusion and other anti-competitive activity punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
