VOD Joint Venture Anti-Competitive: UK Regulators

Law360, New York (December 3, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A video-on-demand joint venture proposed by three U.K. broadcasters –BBC Worldwide Limited, ITV PLC and Channel 4 Television Corp. — would hinder competition for the service in the country at both wholesale and retail levels, U.K. regulators said in a provisional decision Wednesday.

The U.K. Competition Commission noted, however, that the joint venture, dubbed "Project Kangaroo," would not likely have a substantial negative impact on either online advertising or content acquisition.
