House Passes Controversial Pension Reform Bill

Law360, New York (July 31, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- After months of tense negotiations, the U.S. House of Representatives has approved a sweeping overhaul of U.S. pension laws, but insiders are still waiting to see if the U.S. Senate will follow suit.

Late Friday, the House passed the “Pension Reform Act of 2005” by a vote of 279-131, only hours before the legislative body adjourned for a five-week summer break.
