GAO Calls For Coordinated Oversight Of GE Crops

Law360, New York (December 8, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Government Accountability Office has advised the federal agencies that regulate genetically engineered crops to coordinate their monitoring activities, amid controversy over unauthorized releases of GE crops.

On Friday, the GAO released a 109-page report on oversight of GE crops, advising three agencies to work together to reduce the risk and effects of GE releases: the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Environmental Protection Agency and Food and Drug Administration.
