Drug Cos. Hit With Plavix Antitrust Class Action

Law360, New York (August 1, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Pharmaceutical giants Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., Sanofi-Aventis and Apotex Corp. were served with two antitrust class actions on Monday over their controversial Plavix settlement agreement.

The class actions seek damages due to the pending Plavix agreement in which Apotex agreed to refrain from manufacturing and marketing a generic version of the drug in exchange for payments from Bristol-Myers Squibb and Sanofi-Aventis, which jointly market the drug in Europe and the U.S.
