GOP Misgivings Latest Speed Bump In Auto Bailout

Law360, New York (December 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The fate of the $15 billion auto bailout was thrown into doubt on Wednesday as Republicans in the U.S. Senate opposed the deal and the two houses of Congress pushed forward competing versions of the legislation.

Senate Republicans have vowed to block a vote, the Associated Press reported, which could delay passage of the package for days.

Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, a supporter of the bailout, said that there were not enough votes to pass the bill as of late in the afternoon, according to AP....
