Has the SEC's Policy Shift On Settlements Lived Up To Its Promise?

Three years after Securities and Exchange Commission Chair Mary Jo White announced a new policy to demand admissions of wrongdoing to settle certain cases, the agency says it has had success holding executives and big companies accountable. But critics say the confessions often have few real consequences and many marquee cases continue to settle on familiar “no-admit, no-deny” terms.
