Oral Surgeon Sues Drill Maker Over Hearing Damage

Law360, New York (December 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Hoping to hit a nerve, an oral surgeon has fired off a suit against MicroAire Surgical Instruments, alleging the company’s pneumatic drills permanently damaged his hearing, forcing him to close his private practice.

The complaint, lodged Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington, claims MicroAire failed to warn about the dangerous decibels produced by their pneumatic drills, marketing a product that is needlessly loud and therefore unsafe.
