Microsoft, Alcatel Make Nice After Long IP Battle

Law360, New York (December 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Microsoft Corp. and Alcatel-Lucent have settled a long-running, contentious dispute involving dozens of patent claims, six separate cases and even a $1.5 billion dollar jury verdict that was later overturned.

The settlement, which does not need court approval, was disclosed Tuesday in a joint stipulation of dismissal with prejudice. Each party will bear its own costs and attorneys' fees.
