GEICO Accused Of Welding Its Way Into Auto Repair

Law360, New York (August 3, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A class action lawsuit accuses insurance giant GEICO of illegally setting rates for auto body repair shops in California by tampering with the state-mandated surveys it conducts as an auto insurer.

The lawsuit, originally filed in July in state court and moved to the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of California Wednesday, seeks to enjoin GEICO from setting a prevailing auto rate in the region. It also asks that the company forfeit and be disgorged of any profits it has improperly gained.
