DOL Fines ConocoPhillips For Work Safety Breaches

Law360, New York (December 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Energy giant ConocoPhillips Co. has been cited by the U.S. Department of Labor for multiple health and safety violations and faces a $116,500 fine.

The DOL's Occupational Safety and Health Administration said it has issued the company citations for 26 serious workplace violations and one repeat violation at its Trainer, Pa.-based petroleum refinery, which employs 425 workers.

OSHA said the citations followed an investigation launched in June as part of its National Emphasis Program's focus on petroleum refinery process safety management.
