Doctor To Back Off Drug Trials Amid Ethics Probe

Law360, New York (December 31, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A renowned psychiatrist has agreed to halt his participation in several industry-funded clinical trials in the wake of allegations that he worked with Johnson & Johnson to create a research center that promoted the company's anti-psychotic drug Risperdal for use among children.

Massachusetts General Hospital physician Joseph Biederman will curb his involvement in the research pending the outcome of the hospital's inquiry into his “potential conflicts of interest, disclosure and industry-institutional relationships,” the hospital said in a statement Monday.
